1940s
The swimming Club & water polo club was disbanded during World War II
After the second world war (approx 1945 or 1946) the pipe to the sea was extended out along the beach (approx 250 yards), this shortened the time it took to fill the pond, as it gave a longer fill time on each tide.
LATE 40's
Motherwell A.S.C spent all of the summer at the pond, where they trained every morning and held many swimming galas. Many Scottish swimming records where broken there. Among many of the swimmers where "Forbes Gentleman", "Fleming" & "Wardrope Twins"

World war II interrupted the swimming club, but it was reformed in 1949.
The polo team was restarted
