Various plans have been drawn up to replace or upgrade the pool.
1973/74
A design to convert the pool to a leisure facility was drawn up by he old Town council and subsequently taken over by East Lothian District Council at Local government re-organisation. A plan was drawn up & model was built and the facility was to include an Indoor sports hall, squash courts and an outdoor pool measuring 33 1/3 metres by 25 metres. But alas the plans where never taken any further by the council and the model and plans have since disappeared.

A study on the future of the pool & pond hall was carried out by the Scottish Development Agency
88 option 1
This option was never publicly announced, but would have seen the pool converted to a Fish Farm.
88 option 2
A public meeting was called by East Lothian District Council to discuss with the locals a proposed leisure facility.
The building was to be fully covered with a glazed front entrance being built on to the front of the pond and a glazed roof to the rear. The main pond would have been converted to a Leisure Pool of various dimensions or an Ice rink (which was the District council's preferred option). The pond hall itself would have been converted to include a Community hall, a library and some sort of sporting halls. Following a public outcry at an Ice rink being proposed by the council. The whole leisure facility idea was dropped.by the District Councillors.

A feasibility study of the Pond & the Surrounding areas was started
1994
The District Council following the feasibility study of the Pond & the Surrounding areas unveiled plans to re-develop the site as a Day Care centre with associated housing.
